Consent Mode Integration

Elmo is compatible with Consent Mode V2 automatically: simply place the banner's script on the site.

Step 1 - Configuration

Elmo is compatible with the Consent Mode V2 of Google services such as Google Analytics, Google Ads and the like.
There is no need to configure anything, just insert the script into your site, Elmo will take care of the rest!
Furthermore, if you are using the Consent Mode (beta) of Google Tag Manager to categorise tags, Elmo will enable or disable tags based on user consent automatically!
Below is a more detailed explanation of how this works, in case you have a particular configuration of your GTM:
  • As soon as possible, Elmo sends a default allow event to the Tag Manager, so as to tell Google to only start tags that are necessary and functional for the site.
If such an event has already been sent, Elmo sends nothing so as not to overwrite the client's default configuration.
  • Subsequently, when the surfer expresses consent on the banner or when the page loads after having previously expressed consent, Elmo sends a further event named consent update which reflects the consent expressed by the user.
This event is always sent and allows GTM to activate or not the tags and to trigger or not some of its internal Google services events (such as Google Ads or Analytics)
